Hi all, migrated recently and first off can i say that I am one very happy customer :D
Adsl24 is how Broadband should be..
Anywho my question is what is the best/recommended way to test my ping?
I am happy with my linespeed 4-5mbps (although I thought that being just 200mtrs from the exchange i would have had a better SNR, but thats the old wires I guess)
My feelin is that my latency is a bit high especially on Xbox Live.
I remember testin the latency using my old xbox (360 cant do it) and will find the info to do it again.
Until then how do I get a realistic test for latency as I am getting my butt kicked on live, of course it could be the lag at the final stage eye-brain-thumb ;)
Thanks..
Do you know the IP or server name of any servers you are connecting to?
If so, you can do a "ping" from within Windows to this server to test the latency.
Click Start, then Run. Type in cmd and then press OK. In the command window, type ping bbc.co.uk and press enter (replace bbc.co.uk with the server IP or name if you know it, if not just use the bbc.co.uk exaample for a general test.
Post back the results here :)

Dont look too bad..
Thats pretty good. You would benefit from even lower pings with Interleaving turned off. Looking at your line stats I think it should be. Do you want me to do that?

Hi James sorry for not replying sooner..:o
If I find that it affects my overall download speed to much can i have it turned back on?
If I can then YES please get those leaves off my line ..
Thanks..
Of course - but it will generally improve all speed aspects of the line :)

So halved the ping to UK but my ping to any US sites is still close to 200ms :(
I`m guessing that is prob the limit as cant get very much quicker to the UK pipes..
Thanks again ..
Yeah - the overseas servers alwyas have much higher pings - that's just how the Internet works
