My issues started when I was getting frequent disconnects with my Netgear DG834N.
The fault was with the modem which was returned to Netgear.
Whilst I waited for a replacement I used my old ADSL 1 router (about 10 days).

When I got my replacement Netgear ADSL2 router I noticed that the speed was very very slow.
DownStream Connection Speed 576 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 832 kbps

I tested the old router (ADSL 1) and got the same result.
Raised a ticket and after a week I have been told that my line is capped at 500kbps.
They will not lift the cap until I provide them with the results of BT speedtest. Ridiculous!
But I cannot run BT speedtest. I get past the enter phone number bit and when it starts to run the test it comes up with a test error.
I have tried other browsers with no luck.
Any one have any advice?
Do I need to forward ports for it?
Does it have a dedicated login and passwor that I set in the router (I know it used to).

Thanks

Hi there. Presume you are not LLU as the speedtester from BT won't work on that.

If on BT, what error are you getting. Can you post a screen shot?

Enjoy

Thanks for the reply.

I am on LLU, Cable & Wireless.

Surely customer support at ADSL24 would have known it would not work??

Error is:

Performance Tester is unable to run the speed test for your telephone number:**** Please check that it is the correct telephone number for your service. Did you follow all the instructions given on the website, before initiating the speed test. If not, then please follow all the instructions carefully and try to run the test again. If you believe it is the correct number for your service and you have followed all the instructions then please ask your Service Provider whether you can use Performance Tester to test your Broadband speed. If yes, then ask him for the Service ID of your broadband connection and try again with this Service ID along with your Telephone Number. If this problem persists, raise the issue with your service provider.

Thanks.

Yep they should have known that, and is very poor service. I would be back on there case again. Not a lot else I can say really, sorry about that. Unless I'm missing something there is no way the BT speedtester will work on a line that is LLU.
