View Full Version : Don't let his go like Enta
I've been following the numerous postings about dropped connections, bad speeds etc that are now starting to appear on the boards.
This is very like the start of the Enta trouble we had which lead to a lot of people getting very annoyed and some switching out.
I know a lot switched because of the throttling so the first whiff of Murphx crying about fairness to other users etc the alarm bells will start to ring and we will see a mass evacuation again.
I myself have seen great speeds and no disconnects that I've noticed so I want to ask the adsl24 staff to get on top of the speed and disconnect problems before it gets out of control again.
String, I am happy for you and others who appear not to be effected by the recent (within last 8 weeks) low download speeds.
I, unfortunately, am affected. Just did a BT Test which was so low (again) as to be in red and that I should contact ISP. Like others all I have received from tickets is run test, change filter etc. Standard reply I fear.
I have been with ADSL24 many years, even staying throught the Entanet problem and paying to take part in the Obit fiasco. Do not really wish to leave but feel that I have to use my MAC.
James has posted that the forum is not monitored by ADSL24. So be it.

I do feel sorry for the people who have a problem, i was one of the guys who had a problem when the switch over happend, but with a new router all went well.
The thing is, from what ive seen its the same people who are coming back day in day out with the same issues, whilst many of us are happy with the service.
I do think adsl24 read the boards, they just make the point as to say they are not going to respond to them via the forum. .

Well i find the ticket system excellent they are very helpful whenever ive sent a ticket to them. People are just venting their anger on the forums because they are frustrated and i dont blame them. If i had the problems they are having id be venting on the forums but id still be sending a ticket to them all the same.

I'm one of the people who have had frequent disconnects, low speeds and general instability, and as mentioned above, raising a ticket and being told to do the tests I had already tried, resulted in a temporary fixing of the problem.
The instability returned a few days after the ticket was closed. I have since requested a MAC, and guess what, the problem has fixed itself again! I am still going to change ISPs though, because there is no guarantee that the problems won't return, especially as no explanation was given.
One point though, the problem hasn't been only over the last 8 weeks, it has been since the switch from Enta to MurphX, then add the fact that there is no provision for top-ups and other ISPs seem to offer better deals on download limits and that is enough for me to jump ship.

My personal feeling about the disconections is that, something did change between switch over. whatever it was, SOME routers have been effected by it.
The disconections are the reason for the drop in speed.
My old speedtouch started losing sync 3 to 4 times a day just after the switch. took the gamble and spent 40 quid on a belkin and all is great.
Isnt it time these makers of routers etc, build user friendly routers, that state why its losing sync, rather than giving a code and to stop logs being hidden away in sub menus of the system.

Yeah It is a shame a lot of people are having problems, and from day one my speeds have been fine, and no disconnects. I've managed to max out my line with Murphx. Although i have got a DG834GT, it's such a great router.
Have had great speeds ( 6.9 Mbs) with ADSL24 until about the 23rd July since when they have been up and down during the day and evening .
Wonder if it is a school holiday effect ?
