View Full Version : Need another modem/router
My setup is wireless
My D-Link DSL-2640B has just died:(
I have put back my old Netgear DG834G. Up and running fine.
Both from ADSL24
I got the D-Link to replace the Netgear due to the chipset for Be*/LLU
I now need a new one 'cos I like to have a spare on hand. So the new one will become the 'main'
What would people advise?
Cheers:)
What was the guarantee period for it,
yorkie,
I don't know, the o/no was 1570 dated 18/6/09
So if it's 12 month then it's out of date
Nothing to help on the box (just doesn't say)
Invoice = Quantity: 1
Product Code: DSL-2640B
Price: £43.47
The hassle factor of sending back:s
Just had a look at the D-Link website and it might be in warranty, but I don't know what that means
Reason I asked is I thought some models had a long warranty something in the region of 10yr, if I were you I would be contacting d-link to clarify the situation,
yorkie.
It could be 2 years, I will call someone maybe D-Link or ADSL24
This Netgear is faster but is a pain - has to be rebooted in the morning!
Spoke to d-link & it is covered so they are sending return instructions
All I have for invoice are the emails from ADSL24
I wonder if adsl24 can send me an invoice - will phone
Great glad you have got it sorted, :D
yorkie,
Hmm, I'd forgotten all the trouble I had with the Netgear, I have had to reboot it 3x already today. Bah-humbug:(
I got the invoice from ADSL24, many thanks to Paul!
Have had 4 emails from D-Link, got the RMA & now await the email containing the return instructions.
Will I be able to last out though, I used to count the number of times I rebooted/day to see what the record would be (sad I know)
:o
When I needed it I found D-Link support to be excellent,
yorkie.
When I needed it I found D-Link support to be excellent
So far I must agree:)
I would have thought that after all this time the Netgear/Be* issue would have been resolved
The D-Link is fine, but now I have an issue with my PCI wireless card
It is a Edimax EW-7128G and it will not hold AES with WPA2-PSK, it keeps changing to TKIP
Maybe a conflict now that the D-Link is working as it should. The Edimax is old I know
I may have to buy a new card, but what.
D-Link DWL-G510/520:s
I had to set D-Link in 'compatibility mode' (auto)
