When you do a speedtest on http://www.speedtest.net/ which server are you suppose to use, the one nearest to you or the yellow spinning one. As I get different ping from them, the one nearest to me gives me a ping over 100 and yet another only 39.
Should this ping be as varied as that
It is not the nearest one to where I live but I have found Maidenhead to be the most reliable one,
yorkie.
Milton keynes is the best one for me:D

But Gloucester which is my nearest is always a higher ping

I get higher pings using Milton Keynes than I do Maidenhead where it is usually 23 / 25ms
yorkie,
Depends a lot on routing and I don't think some of these speedtest servers are very good. Gloucester has a significantly higher ping for me.

Pingtest is interesting because it uses the server that has the lowest ping rather than "guessing" your distance to it like speedtest.
Brilliant stats them polo, I bet you have to bolt your pc to the floor dont you,:D
yorkie.
Speedtest.net have now changed their site, my ping from maidenhead now down to 15ms,
yorkie.

Yeah, certainly is an improvement over my 5mb at home. I hope BT actually do something soon. :(
Really like the new look of speedtest.
