Hi,
I'm moving into a house and looking to get broadband sorted. After a few years with Pipex, I'm looking at a change and after research ADSL24 is the favourite. However, I have a slight problem...
I'm moving in 2 weeks, and as I work from home I'm trying to get everything set up in advance so the DSL is ready ASAP. I've got the BT line set up, and started the sign up process, but it seems that ADSL is still 'live' on the line. The line was cancelled by the previous tenants, and I have a new number. I've been told that they also cancelled their ADSL, but after speaking to BT this morning they told me there's no cease date on the system for it.
So (finally!) here's my question; if I speak to the previous tenant, can I get them to request their MAC, and then use it myself to migrate the line over? Or do I need to get them to cancel their connection, so I can start from fresh? If it's the latter, how long does a cease order usually take?
Many thanks in advance...
