Questions
Q: What is an interconnect?
A interconnect, in simple terms, is the geographical location at which your ADSL connection is routed through after it leaves your exchange. On the 21CN WBC platform, there are 20 interconnects, whereas on the IPStream Connect platform, there are 10. Every customer will be connected to one of these interconnects - in general the closest one, but not always depending on how BT have routed the cables.
Q: Quality of Service (QoS) information
Services such as web browsing, gaming, video streaming, VoIP and VPN access will be given higher priority across the network. We intend to manage this to ensure that all services are available according to their priority. Therefore, varying levels of speed restriction will be applied to services such as Newsgroups and P2P where they impact the prioritised services. There is never any hard capping of specific protocols; unlike certain other ISP's who set permanent limits on specific protocols and block ports. We do not block any ports or protocols.
